Hi

Just wondered if anyone else had heard that taking evening primrose oil is good for RA? It was mentioned to me at the weekend, but I've not heard of that before. Confused

Hi Lou, I used to take this years ago as it was meant to be good to balance hormones and bad periods etc. didnt realise it was good for RA! What have you read?

I think it must be down to the omega 3s and 6s. I came across it when researching alternatives to fish oils because I'm vegetarian but flax seed oil came out top so I take that. Also much cheaper than evening primrose!

Hi

A friend was telling me that she has read it somewhere but to be honest Im not a 100% sure whether thats for RA or a different type of Arthritis but guess it wouldn't hurt to look into further.

hi, i take primrose 1000 norm but used to buy veggy ones which are now £3 dearer and feel great, hair ok,nails fine etc,i asked my gp about it and he said any oils are good for joints, i did take flaxseed but decided to stick to primrose, another thing i do is take 1 brazil nut a day and it helps,an elderly man told my daughter of this he has been taking them for years for R.A, so i tried it and i feel it helps,(daughter works in local hospital)i have also heard cherry juice is also good and its one of 5 a day,can buy in health store sorry dont know cost, good luck

I take this along with starflower oil to help with PMT.

As RA Is very hormonally related Im not surprised it helps, but doubt it has any direct effect on the RA at all, rather on the hormones that can cause the flares.
